Jackson skiing in February |
My four year old son Jackson on the other hand, couldn't have been happier to wake up to a lawn covered in white. Before the sun had even risen he was standing by my bed waking me up to ask if he could look outside. From there the conversation went a little like this:
Jackson said: "Mommy, everything is white outside. Hooray!!"
Mommy thought: "Get back in bed and shut the hell up!"
Jackson said: "I'll have to wear my snow boots to school today!"
Mommy thought: "Where the hell are the snow boots? Shit, his feet have gone up two sizes since last winter."
Jackson said: "Can we go outside now?"
Mommy thought: "No, we can go outside next June."
Jackson said: "I want to build a snowman."
Mommy thought: "I want to move to Hawaii."
Jackson said: "Let's get to school early so I can play with my friends outside."
Mommy thought: "The traffic will be terrible with all the boobs who don't have their snow tires on yet. F%@#, are my snow tires on?"
Jackson said: "Does this mean I can start my skiing lessons?"
Mommy thought: "I don't have money for the ski lessons. Why can't he just walk up and down the mountain for fun?"
Jackson said: "Mommmmmyyyyy, get up!!!"
Mommy thought: "May the winter games begin!"
Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI hate the winter which is why I moved to the sunshine state and I've only been here for a couple of months but I can tell you that I absolutely love it.

Oh how funny!! I like winter but I have never had it THAT long to learn to hate it. I think if I lived where it always snowed I wouldn't love it. I couldn't wait for it to snow when I was a kid but then again I didn't have to shovel it. Probably looks much different from the side of a mommy snuggled in her bed, warm and cuddly!
ReplyDeleteJejeje! Too bad, I love winter. Nonetheless like you very well put it, for 3 or 4 months... more´s just not that fun.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend
Congrats on your first snow!!!! he he he
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, the kids get so excited over the first snow, don't they?
Snow? It was 80+ degrees here in San Diego today. I wore shorts & a tank top. Your little skier is a cutie! Two sizes since last winter - sounds like a pricey winter coming!
ReplyDeleteHaha!! We can trade for a week or two?? K?? See I like even amounts of each season...ya know a 3 month everything! BUT in South Africa Spring and Fall really just don't exist...not where I live! We have summer from about October till May then a 2-3 week fall then Winter from June-August and a 3-4 week spring then it is bloody flippin' hot again!! So let's swap next year in like November! K?? hehe Love that you admit your thoughts ;-)
ReplyDeleteFollowing/commeting from the Mommy brain mixer! I hope you'll come and do the same :)

love your internal dialog. I am a southern gal who has been kidnapped... okay I went willingly... to the midwest and although it hasn't snowed its already been too damn cold for me!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness! I am getting annoyed with 73-80+ degree days here in Oklahoma. Would ne nice eat soups and stews that fit the budget and month well, just not the weather...
